Generic Article on Electronic Waste Recycling

Electronic waste, commonly known as e-waste, refers to discarded electrical and electronic devices, including smartphones, computers, televisions, batteries, and household appliances. With the rapid growth of technology and increasing consumer demand for the latest gadgets, e-waste has become one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally. Proper recycling of electronic waste is essential to prevent environmental pollution, recover valuable materials, and promote sustainable resource management.

E-waste contains a variety of materials, including metals such as gold, silver, copper, and rare earth elements, as well as plastics and glass. Many of these components are recyclable and can be reused in the production of new electronic devices, reducing the need for raw material extraction. However, e-waste also contains hazardous substances like lead, mercury, cadmium, and brominated flame retardants, which can be harmful to human health and the environment if improperly disposed of.
